A Careful analysis of the Pro-PVC articles yielded that they were generally written by PVC Manufacturers or Vinyl Industry groups. One group quotes a founder of Greenpeace in an article (however some brief research indicated that he now runs a consulting agency that serves many companies that benefit from his Pro-PVC (and his Pro-Nuclear) perspectives of today.

As a society we should demand products that are made by people that are treated well, manufactured safely and are reducing harm to our environment and resources. Such demand should naturally extend to the packaging of the things we buy.
